Tennisball goes Blender

Today I got a mail from Olivier H. (Don’t know what the H stands for, but anyhow) that he has translated my Tennisball Modelling tutorial into a Blender friendly article.

The blender tutorial can be found at the following links:

  • Blender Artist Forums (direct link to the tutorial post)
  • BlenderWiki site
  • And you can click here for the thread that started it all and also follow the development of other way for modeling a tennisball.

They are discussing whether it’s necessary to model it at all, and also trying out different approaches. So I just feel like mentioning that my reason for writing the tutorial was to show one way to think efficient by modeling 1/8 of an object and also keeping nice edgeloops while doing it. I was also pretty new to Maya and got pretty excited when I found that Maya had it’s own “Spherify Modifier” aka. Sculpt Deformer. hehe..

If anybody have seen or translated my tutorials into another language or softwarepackage, don’t hesitate to get in touch (Add a comment) so that I can add a link here. I get all warm and fuzzy when these things turn up. :)

    Working with deformers

I am working on some scripts to improve my workflow when modelling using “Non Destructive” deformation on multiple or single objects.

I have put together a little video to show what I’m talking about. I hope you like it.

You will need the Techsmith Codec to view the video and WinRar to unpack the file.

    Download Video.

Object Based and Non Destructive Deformation

Edit: A minor setback on this thing. I have to figure out a couple of things before I continue working on it.

CG artist Alessandro Baldasseroni walks us through the creation of an anatomically correct cover star for 3D World Magazine.
I just wanted to thank him for mentioning my Braid Modelling Tutorial in both the article and the magazine.
