Working with Deformers 01
This video demonstrates a quick, easy and efficient way to work with multiple deformers to achieve a somewhat complex and precise shape. (Ok.. It’s not really that complex of a shape. hehe.. )
Anyways.. The basic idea is; “Deformers are friends, not food” and “Wire deformer for president!”.

Good video tutorial Christer. Great quick way to make some cool fences

Hehe. Thanks.
The shape is actually based on a forge iron candle stick we got for christmas a couple of years ago. It’s pretty ugly really. So we (read ‘I’) placed it outside.. on the balcony floor.. in a corner. But I guess one could make an old looking fence this way too.
Anyways.. The reason for recording this was to show some usage of combining several deformers to achieve a somewhat interesting result in a fairly efficient manner.

Hey.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial.
I’m new to Maya and this demonstrates some power I never would have discovered on my own.
The text instructions in the layer panel were very helpful to keep track of what was going on. How did you place them in there?
Great stuff, I appreciate your sharing.

hey! I really enjoyed this tutorial and it’s really helpful. I was aware of the animation deformers but not the wire one. This is not related to this tutorial but I was wondering, where did you get your wordpress layout? Did you make it yourself and is up for download? I tried looking some up but they always had extra features I never needed. Yours on the other hand is simple and straight to the point.

Thanks for the response.
The theme is based on the Greenery theme by iLemoned.
I just went ahead and removed some stuff and tweaked colors, images etc the way I wanted.

I thought this tutorial was excellent – something about me just doesn’t like to tweak. I downloaded it a quite a while back and did not understand it, but I watched it again today and it made perfect sense.
Thank you for all of your tutorials.
